How will an IFS Kit make my ride better?

A custom IFS Kit from Helix will add modern technology and geometry to your vintage vehicle. It adds more value to your car than any other type of suspension. And, with Helix engineering, you get an unmatched, geometrically correct, safe ride. These kits fit frames easily, providing a 3-4" suspension drop, and are pre-notched with no cutting or trimming required for an easy, hassle-free installation.

Included in most kits are all the special, hard-to-make brackets and mounts you will need to complete the installation, plus Helix's own step-by-step installation manual and DVD movie.

Ultimately, with one of Helix's custom IFS Kits, each wheel will have independent travel, softening the ride over rough surfaces, improving handling, steering response and in most cases stabilizing and eliminating front end weight.

Plus, with Helix's IFS Kit Configuration, you can create a custom IFS Kit, perfect for your vehicle! We offer 200+ applications so you get exactly what you need for your ride.

What's the difference between a Mustang II IFS and a Custom Corner Killer IFS? Which platform is best for me?

Refer to the table and figure below for key IFS Kit differences. Ultimately, the platform that is best for you is determined by your vehicle and/or your personal preference when it comes to fabrication and installation.

Why would I need a Crossmember for my IFS Kit?

Replacing your stock crossmember will enable you to take advantage of your new IFS components, as your entire front end becomes more structurally sound. It's the heart of all front end upgrades, and it adds a base to make components move independently so you get a more responsive, softer ride. Additionally, Helix crossmembers feature geometrically correct construction out of high-quality steel.

Why would I choose the Stock Spindle over the 2" Drop Spindle for my IFS Kit?

The spindle you choose depends on where you want your vehicle to drop. The Stock Spindle will drop your vehicle close to 2 inches from stock height, whereas the 2 Inch Drop Spindle will give you an additional 2 inch drop, which puts you closer to 3 to 4 inches from the stock height, depending on application.

One question to ask yourself is do you want your vehicle looking closer to factory specs or a more customized lowered stance?

Which ever choice you make, you can feel confident knowing that Helix Spindles are heat-treated and retain absolute stock, factory geometry for hassle-free geometric precision. Additionally, updated manufacturing methods ensure Helix spindles handle stress better than the original.

What are my steering rack options and how will each one affect my overall IFS Kit?

With Helix IFS Kits, you have the option between Manual or Power Steering:

  • Helix's Manual Steering Rack uses mechanical technology, so you feel more connected with the road. However, many find Manual Steering makes their vehicle harder to steer.
  • With Helix's Power Steering Rack, fluids and a pump are incorporated to ease steering, so you get a more fluid movement. However, Power Steering may not be right for your vehicle depending on the weight and wheel base.

If you choose a Power Rack, you have the choice between Right Hand Drive (RHD) or Left Hand Drive (LHD). Right Hand Drive is for European and Australian models.

What suspension setup will best fit my needs for my IFS Kit?

There are 4 main setups for your suspension:

  1. With Shock Through Coil you have no adjustability
  2. With Coilover Shock you have adjustability on your ride height and ride stiffness
  3. Air Bag setup includes relocated shocks and is entry into air setup
  4. Air Strut Shock is the premium level. The air bags and shocks will be built into a single unit

If Air Bag setup or Air Strut Shock setup are the best fit for your IFS Kit, your next decision is manual versus digital control. (Shock Through Coil and Coilover do not have this option.)

We have some extraordinary parts and accessories that will help you upgrade your rear end suspension to create a show stopping vehicle:

  • Four Link Kits - Helix's heavy duty Four Link Kits come complete with everything you need to do the job right. Each kit includes four heavy duty bars that are made from DOM Steel, eight adjustable ends with urethane bushings & zinc fittings, pre-tapped end tubes, heavy duty tabs and brackets, steel eyelets and all the hanging hardware.
  • Tow Kits - Helix's advanced tow kits increase the comfort and safety of your vehicle with ease. Traditional stiff factory suspension makes for an uncomfortable ride, while air suspension can not handle heavy loads. The solution is Helix's Aer™ Tow Helper Kits. These kits will add a heavy duty helper air spring to your factory suspension. The result is a fully adjustable suspension that you can fine tune to your ride preference. Simple bolt in installation, toll free tech support, and detailed instructions makes installation a breeze.
